“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

1 Peter 2:9

He calls us “a chosen people”, for He has chosen to love us and redeem us by grace.

He calls us “a royal priesthood”, people called to minister and shepherd others around them.

He calls us “a holy nation”, so that we may be set apart from this world and its ideology.

He calls us his “special possession”, because He created us piece by piece so that we may be able to live a life according to Him and glorify Him.

When we are lost and broken, God pulls us out from the darkness, breaks us out of the chains of our sins, to join Him in His church. The extent that He would go to give us hope and everlasting life is unfathomable. God has sacrificed His beloved son, Jesus Christ, so that we may become His church. A part of His family. What joy it is to know how much He loves us and how precious we are to Him!
